Second edition of the Freedom Forum

On November 10, the second session of the UCEMA Freedom Forum will be held, a virtual space designed for rotating groups of intellectuals to debate on diverse and transcendental issues, escaping from the classic juncture debate that prevents long-term thinking. The meeting will take place with the title of "Los Límites Morales a la Libertad" (Moral Limits to Freedom)

As always, the forum will be coordinated by the committee formed by Alberto Benegas Lynch (h), Julio Elías, Martín Krause and Edgardo Zablotsky, who will also participate in the sessions. The moderator will be Dr. Zablotsky, in his capacity of President of UCEMA. Regarding the guests, this session of the Forum will include the participation of Enrique Aguilar (Dean of the Faculty of Social, Political and Communication Sciences of the UCA), Walter Castro (economist and vice-president of Fundación Libertad), Lars-André Richter (representative of the Naumann Foundation in Argentina); Mario Teijeiro, economist and member of the Board of Governors of the UCEMA and Loris Zanatta (professor of Latin American History at the University of Bologna, Italy). The sessions are closed, through zoom, will not be recorded in order to guarantee the free exchange of ideas and access to the Forum can only be accessed by invitation.

Enrique Aguilar

Enrique Aguilar has a doctorate in Political Sciences from the UCA and is Dean of the Faculty of Social, Political and Communication Sciences of UCA and Director there of the Doctorate in Political Sciences. He is professor of Political Theory at UCA, UCEMA, Austral University and FLACSO. Author of several publications on topics of his speciality, the title of his latest book is Alexis de Tocqueville. An introductory reading (Sudamericana, 2008). Has given courses and seminars in several academic centers of the country and abroad. He is Vice President o the Foundation José Ortega y Gasset Argentina. He directs the magazine Colección and is member of the editorial board of the journal of the Argentine Society of Political Analysis, Analecta Política (Colombia), Laissez-Faire (Guatemala), among others.

Alberto Benegas Lynch

Alberto Benegas Lynch (h) He is Ph.D. in Economics and Ph.D. in Management Sciences, member of the National Academy of Economic Sciences and President of the Economic Sciences´ Section of the Buenos Aires National Academy of Sciences, author of 27 books, President of the Academic Council of the Freedom and Progress Foundation, he was tenured professor in five courses of the University of Buenos Aires, UBA: Economic Sciences, Engineering, Law, Sociology and in the Department of the History of Philosophy and Letters. Former Rector of ESEADE where he is a postgraduate professor, and he was economic advisor to the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange, the Argentine Chamber of Commerce, the Rural Society and to the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production.

Walter Castro

Walter Castro is Vice President of the Fundación Libertad of Rosario, being in charge of the Directorate of Academic Affairs of the Institution. He is member of the Mont Pelerin Society. Is also Professor of Economics in the Postgraduate course of Agribusiness, co-organized by Fundación Libertad and the Rosario Stock Exchange; and professor at UCA in Rosario. In addition, he is tenured postgraduate professor by contest in the National University of Rosario (UNR), and teaches the subject “Macroeconomics” in the Master of Business Management at the Faculty of Engineering. Having already served for more than 25 years in specialized journalism, he currently directs his daily radio program “El Regreso” on Fisherton CNN. On his part, since 1992 he is Founding Partner of “Castro y Fernández”, a consulting firm specialized in consultancy advice and business reengineering.

Julio Elías

Julio Elías is Ph.D. in Economics, University of Chicago and Director of the Master in Economics at UCEMA. Is also Executive Director of the UCEMA Center for Creativity Economics, and associate researcher of the Center of Excellence on Human Capital and Economic Growth and Development of the University of Buffalo. Was Visiting Fellow of the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago, and visiting professor at the Economics Department of the University of Western Ontario, Canada, among other achievements.

Martín Krause

Martín Krause is a Ph.D. in Administration from the Catholic University of La Plata and an Economist from the UBA. He is professor at UCEMA, member of the Mont Pelerin Society, Adjunct Academic of the Cato Institute and of the Academic Council of the Fundación Libertad y Progreso (Buenos Aires). He has received various prizes and scholarships among which stands our the Freedom Project of the John Templeton Foundation in 1999 and 2000. He has published several books: El Foro y el Bazar (UFM, 2014); Elementos de Economía Política (La Ley, 2007, joint with Adrián Ravier and Gabriel Zanotti), among others.

Lars-André Richter

Dr. Lars-André Richter is representative of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) in Buenos Aires. He is responsible for the activities of the FNF in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Before coming to Latin America he was Representative of the FNF in Seoul during six years. He was in charge of the Foundation´s projects in South Korea, in North Korea, and worked on the observation of the situation of Japan. Richter was born in Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied humanities (Literature, Philosophy, History and Cultural Communication) in Berlin, Paris, Leipzig and Tübingen. He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2008 in the Humboldt University of Berlin. He later worked as journalist in Axel Springer AG and for the DAAD (German Service of Academic Exchange). Since 2008 he has worked for the FNF.

Mario Teijeiro

Mario Teijeiro is an economist, Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago and member of the Board of Governors of UCEMA. Since 1991 he has been an academic advisor of FIEL and since 1996 he is President of the Center for Public Studies. He was consultant of international organizations such as the IMF and the WB. He teaches Public Finance at CEMA since 1996; he was professor of Argentine Economic Policy, at the University of Buenos Aires, from 1981 to 1982; professor of Currency, Credit and Banks at the National University of La Plata, from 1976 to 1980 and assistant professor of Price Theory at the UBA IN 1975.

Edgardo Zablotsky

Edgardo Zablotsky is Ph.D. in Economics, University of Chicago and President of the Universidad del CEMA. He is a member of the National Academy of Education. Member of the Academic Council of the Freedom and Progress Foundation and of the Atlas Foundation (Argentina) and of the Advisory Council of Acton Institute (Argentina). He was recently incorporated into the Mont Pelerin Society. His interest is focused on two fields of research: non-welfare philanthropy and public policies carried out in the educational area in our country.

Loris Zanatta

Loris Zanatta is professor of Latin American History at the University of Bologna, Italy. He is author of several books and articles, published in Europa and in Latin America, and is commentator about Latin America on various media. In 2011 he was appointed corresponding member for Italy of the Academy of the History of the Argentine Republic. He has published, among other works: Del Estado liberal a la nación católica. 1930-1943 (Buenos Aires, 1996), Perón y el mito de la nación católica. 1943-1946 (Buenos Aires, 1999), Historia de la Iglesia argentina (in collaboration with R. Di Stefano, Buenos Aires, 2000), Breve historia del peronismo clásico (Buenos Aires, 2009) and Eva Perón. Una biografía política (Buenos Aires, 2011).
