Autocracies, Old and New
The democratic backlash experienced in the last decades has revealed that many autocracies hadn't disappeared, but cooperated among themselves. They used democratic institutions to erode them along a slow, but continuous process. Latin America presents, in this regard, an unpromising landscape. However, we need to contest this end of the democratic consensus, analyzing actors, institutions, and process to reignite the progress of liberal democracy.
These seminars are coordinated by Dr. Constanza Mazzina.
