Este artículo trata de indagar el proceso de incorporación política de las mujeres durante el primer gobierno peronista. Dos hechos se revelan como significativos: el primero fue la aprobación de la ley de sufragio femenino en 1947, con la consecuente oportunidad de que las mujeres votaran y fuesen votadas; y el segundo, la creación del Partido Peronista Femenino (PPF), que buscó su incorporación masiva en la política. El Partido Peronista Femenino se fundó el 29 de julio de 1949 en el marco de la primera Asamblea Organizativa del Partido Peronista.

This paper puts forward an alternative approach to multiplicative models and their assessment of returns out of financial assets. Firstly, it lays down an operative definition but also sets forth a commutative framework of mappings to provide foundations to such a definition. Next, the total return is split down into its linear and non-linear building blocks. Afterwards, a compatibility lemma draws a distinction between what should be meant by linear approximation and linear equivalence to the multiplicative model.

La política fiscal es el resultado de un proceso de decisión colectivo. Este proceso está más institucionalizado en las democracias constitucionales donde es clave la competencia electoral entre partidos para definir qué políticas se van a llevar a cabo.

We analyze the relationship between fiscal deficit, macroeconomic uncertainty and growth for the period 1915-2006, and conclude that the deficit, possibly through the volatility in relative prices it generates, is a significant restriction on per-capita income growth in Argentina.

Objetivist models are based on the deterministic hypothesis that postulates the existence of probability, which is cognoscible only in an asymptotic manner. On the other hand, subjectivist models consider the aleatoristic hypothesis according to which there is no truth about probability. However, both hypotheses may only be compared through stochastic models, which are not strictly falsifiable.

Some authors, basing their ideas on the exchangeability property, on the postulates of the representation theorem and on its interpretation in the ambit of ergodic theory, believed to find a counterexample to the subjectivist model through the theoretical justification of the existence of an objective probability.

This paper uses a least-square regression method that relates per-capita income to four phonetic characteristics (r-dropping, and the so-called “father-bother”, “cotcaught” and “pin-pen” mergers), to study the socio-economic significance of those characteristics in North American English. As a result we find a positive and statistically significant relationship between per-capita income and r-dropping, and between per-capita income and the presence of the “cot-caught” merger, and a negative and statistically significant relationship between per-capita income and the “pin-pen” merger.

Este trabajo fue escrito por alguien que nunca pisó la universidad de Chicago, y estudió en Harvard. Quienes dedican sus energías a pegarle a los economistas encuentran facilitada su tarea en el caso de la universidad de Chicago. No solamente porque fue fundada por un Rockefeller, y contó entre sus profesores a Milton Friedman, sino también gracias al aporte de muchos egresados de las escuelas de economía de las otras universidades. La presentación busca superar el plano de la caricatura, para ubicarse en la realidad.

Se reseñan los ciclos electorales en el producto (political business cycles) que son generados por políticos oportunistas que quieren ganar elecciones vía la manipulación de la política monetaria. El hilo argumental arranca con la contribución original de Nordhaus (1975), con agentes miopes que tienen expectativas adaptativas, y la crítica que sufre desde las expectativas racionales. Se discute luego la incorporación de información incompleta en Persson y Tabellini (1990), donde interpretan los ciclos como una señal bajo información asimétrica.

This document reviews the consequences, for Argentina and South America, of the rise of China as the world’s second (and soon to be the first) economy, and as the most important trading partner of the main South American economies, as well as a very major investor therein. It also documents perceptions of threat generated in the declining superpower, the United States, both as a consequence of China’s penetration of its “back yard”, and of wider economic and geopolitical competition. The paper includes an up-to-date bibliography of Sino-Latin American relations.
